ECOEEian Saga: Part 4

We woke up before the dawning of the sun and loaded our boats by torchlight in order to conceal our movements from those that wish to stop us. For it seems the closer we draw to Mattice and the one van, the more violent and desperate our enemies become.  These attacks begin to dampen our spirits, but at the same time it lifts them. For it means we are on the right path and soon the riches of voyageur’s diner will be ours. Many of my companions already drool with anticipation thinking of this bounty and talk about it often. I fear that they will focus too much on the end reward and forget about what still needs to be done to get there. As we finished loading the boats and push out to sea, the sun risings, as does our enemies. It seems our movements were detected and they sent our scouts to harass us while their main army pushes to catch up. Their scouts are annoying little gnats that fly at your eyes and up your nose in attempts to slow our progress. Try as we may, but there is no fighting them off. Their movements are quick and they make our swings look clumsy and foolish. We have no choice but to carry on and ignore them as best as we can. After a long voyage, we beach at a clearing and sat up camp for the night. You can see the tiredness of my companions reflected in their eyes, but if you look closer you can see something else, a hint of fear. For it is widely believed that Jeff the Grey cast a charm spell on one of our companions and she is now under his control and we all wonder who is next. All we know for sure is if yo see him drop to one knee, run!
